Happy Birthday, Brennan!

IMG_0671

Today Brennan turns 15. When did that happen? It seems just like yesterday that he was stuck in my birth canal and the doctor had to go in and fetch him. That should of been an indication of the stubbornness to follow but I continue to hold out hope. With all the complaining I do and all the frustration I feel, I thank God everyday that he came into my life. I am so proud of him: his caring demeanor, his wit and intelligence. I love watching him trying to find his way, even though he gets … [Read more...]

Lessons Learned?

My Boys

At what point does one learn a lesson?  It has been 15 (almost - for Brennan) and 13 (for Carter) of me saying the same thing over and over again and the lessons (or sometimes instructions) have still not taken hold. Some of them are simple ones like no eating in the living room, you have to put your dirty clothes in the laundry if you want them washed and please don't leave your shoes in front of the door when taking them off because someone will trip over them. Others are a little more … [Read more...]

A Midsummer Night’s Dream

Brennan - Midsummer Night's Dream

This weekend Brennan played a dark elf in Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. The entire production was put on through the TheatriKIDS program at Theatrikos. This romantic comedy (emphasis on comedy) is family friendly and extremely entertaining. They have two more shows today (Saturday 2/25) at 7:00 PM and tomorrow at 2:00 PM. If you have time today, make it a point to spend a few hours supporting our talented youth and the TheatriKIDS program. Our Flagstaff community is richer for … [Read more...]

Grades Discussion

Brennan & Carter

My morning started off with an email from one of Brennan's teachers.  That is never a good sign.  At FALA, progress reports are issued every 4 weeks and it is that time again. After reading the upsetting email from Brennan's math teacher, I went online to see if their progress grades were updated. They were and I went ballistic (that is putting it mildly). He is getting A's on his tests for the most part but he is failing most of his classes due to the failure of turning in his homework. … [Read more...]

Messy, Messy Boy

Messy Room

Yesterday, I did laundry. Lots and lots of laundry. So imagine my frustration when Brennan came out of his room wondering where he could find a clean shirt. Me: You put a pile of clean clothes away yesterday. Where did you put them? Brennan: There weren't any shirts in the pile. Me: Yes there were. There were shirts, pants, socks, etc... Brennan: I don't have any shirts. Can we go buy some? Me: No. We are not buying shirts. You have shirts.  Let's go in your room and find some … [Read more...]
